Gronholm reveals retirement plan
Marcus Gronholm
Gronholm has enjoyed plenty of success in the sport
World Rally championship leader Marcus Gronholm has announced he will retire at the end of the year.

The Finn, who won the 2000 and 2002 world championships, currently leads rival Sebastian Loeb by 10 points with five races to go this season.

"Over 20 years of rallying has given me a lot and I've always dreamed of ending my career on top," the 39-year-old told his personal website.

"Now I have an excellent chance to make it happen and I'm going to use it."

Gronholm, who joined Ford in 2006 having previously competed with Toyota and Peugeot, added: "There are no dramatics involved as I want to give possibilities for younger drivers to reach their dreams - like I have done."
