Solberg believes Subaru can claw their way back to the top |
Former world champion Petter Solberg is to stay with Subaru until 2009. The 31-year-old Norwegian, who has been with the team since 2000 and won the title in 2003, said he was confident they could end Citroen's dominance.
"It is a difficult situation at the moment but that's how it is sometimes, there are ups and downs," Solberg said.
"When things are going badly it's very easy to run away, but that's not me. I want to get back to the top with the people I was on top with before."
Solberg, runner-up for the past two seasons, is sixth in the drivers' championship and 54 points adrift of leader Loeb.
Subaru are third in the manufacturers' standings with 63 points, 33 behind Loeb's Kronos team.
Subaru team boss Richard Taylor said the rest of their driver line-up would be decided after the publication of next year's calendar, which is due in July.
The team have run Australian Chris Atkinson and France's Stephane Sarrazin alongside Solberg this year.
