Citroen's Loeb is in a commanding position after day two |
World champion Sebastien Loeb continued his cruise to a sixth win in 10 races this season on Saturday's second leg of the Rally of Germany. The French Citroen driver leads team-mate Daniel Sordo by 34.3 seconds with Sunday's leg to go.
Finn Marcus Gronholm, Loeb's closest rival in the championship, is third in his Ford, but he is two minutes and 14 seconds adrift.
His fellow Finn Toni Gardemeister is fourth in another Citroen.
Loeb only won one stage on Saturday, the 15th, which let his team-mate Sordo slightly cut his advantage.
"Dani pushed really hard this morning, he drove well and was very quick," said Loeb. "It was important to finish with the two cars."
Sordo said: "It's imporant to maintain the position with Sebastien. Sunday will also be difficult for the car and the tyres with four special stages without service."
