Gronholm issues quit threat
Marcus Gronholm is considering his future
Gronholm only joined the rally circuit in 2000
World rally champion Marcus Gronholm has threatened to quit if major changes to the sport are introduced.

The sport's governing body, the FIA is proposing to stage rallies over four days instead of three with the recce including as part of the rally.

The 35-year-old Finn has dismissed the plans, warning that if changes are made he could go into early retirement.

"I feel it is wrong, and if the changes are made then I do not want to be part of the sport," Gronholm told Autosport magazine.

"Take the idea of doing our reconnaissance in the rally car - really? It's crazy.

"If we are supposed to be doing the recce in our rally car, we'll end up listening to the engine and looking what the car is doing on that stage.

"It's just a crazy idea. Who thinks these things up?"

Gronholm, who is chasing his third world title, lies in third place in the standings behind Carlos Sainz and leader Richard Burns.
