BAR's Jenson Button starts the British Grand Prix on the front row, alongside Renault's Fernando Alonso in pole position

British driver Button, on the inside of the track where there is less grip, is under pressure from the off

And third-placed Juan Pablo Montoya gets off to a great start for McLaren, overtaking Alonso and Button to take the lead

Alonso maintains the pressure on Monotya, and the pair gradually pull away from third-placed Button

Whilst Montoya (pictured) leads from the front, McLaren team-mate Kimi Raikkonen is fighting back from 12th place

Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher, who started in tenth spot, begins to make progress up the field

Alonso closes to within a second of Montoya on the final laps, but the Colombian holds on to take the chequered flag

Kimi Raikkonen makes up nine places to claim third, and is now 26 points behind Alonso in the world championship

But it's disappointment for Michael Schumacher who finishes in sixth place, one better than team-mate Rubens Barrichello

And Button rues a missed chance to win his first podium of the season, being passed by Giancarlo Fisichella to finish fifth
