Lakeside Hammers will not be riding in the Elite League play off finals. They failed to make up a twenty point first leg deficit at the Arena-Essex Raceway.Hammers were beaten overall 106-84 by Wolves despite winning nine of the fifteen heats they raced on the night. Wolves now go on to host Swindon Robins in the first leg of the final next week. The two teams will then meet again seven days later in Wiltshire. Swindon booked their place in the final by overcoming the Coventry Bees 100-88. | We really never got into it - we need a lot of improvement. |
It was a flat night for Lakeside with only Jonas Davidsson impressing - he was their only rider to hit double figures as he made thirteen. Wolves had to manage without the injured Peter Karlsson, but did not seem to miss the experienced Swede. Their number one Freddie Lindgren had a surprisingly quiet night failing to win any of his five rides. But Adam Skornicki (12+2) and Tai Woffinden (12+1) proved to be the star performers, as Lakeside failed to find an adequate response. Co-promoter Jon Cook said: "We've got pick up ourselves and get on with the rest of the season which is now our cup final. We've got to find our consistency again."
