Wolverhampton are taking Polish champion Adam Skornicki back to Monmore Green for the 2009 speedway season. Skornicki was on loan to Poole and helped them win the Elite League last season, but he is now keen on a return to his parent club. Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten said: "We need someone with charisma, character and the ability to put a smile on people's faces." Skornicki joins Tai Woffinden as a confirmed starter in the Wolves team. The Monmore men will open their 2009 season with a derby double-header against Coventry. The first leg of the challenge tie will take place on Monday, 16 March, with the return at Brandon the following Friday. Public practice will take place at Monmore Green on Tuesday, 10 March, while there will be no meeting on Easter Monday to avoid conflict with the Polish League. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, 14 April instead, with Belle Vue pencilled in as possible opponents.
