Brummies' top priority was to secure Jason Lyons for a third season |
Birmingham Brummies skipper Jason Lyons has agreed to return to the club for a third successive season. The Australian arrived at Perry Barr for the big relaunch of the Brummies in 2007 and is a firm fan favourite. "I feel very settled in Birmingham and wouldn't want to leave," said Lyons. "The fans are superb. "I've been riding over here in England for almost 20 years now and I can honestly say I have never enjoyed my racing so much." Lyons was the Brummies' mainstay in a Premier League season that saw the club ravaged by injury throughout, but he believes better fortune is on its way. "I'm happy to have a new deal in place and I can now start planning for the new season," he added. "I've also been talking to the management about how I would like to see the team shape up for next season." Meanwhile Birmingham have announced a reduction of almost 10 per cent on season ticket prices for 2009. Adult prices have been dropped from 360 to 330, with fans who have already paid being able to claim a refund. "Our primary reason is the recession," said Brummies boss Tony Mole, "but it's also to encourage more of our fans to take out season tickets."
