Birmingham Brummies will take an eight-point lead into the second leg of their Young Shield quarter-final at Berwick on Saturday. The Brummies had raced into a 17-7 lead after only four heats before being pegged back in Wednesday's meeting. They were grateful for a strong finish with 4-2 and 5-1 wins in the final two heats of the night. Top-scorers Jason Lyons and Craig Watson took advantage of Adrian Rymel's crash to finish 1-2 in heat 15.
