Coventry Bees crashed out of the Knockout Cup at the semi-final stage on Thursday night with a 110-78 aggregate defeat to Poole. The holders, already trailing 56-40 following the first leg, suffered another heavy defeat to Poole, losing 54-38 in the second leg. The Bees' two-leg defeat followed Coventry's 53-40 Elite League win over Wolverhampton earlier in the evening. Chris Harris top scored with 12, but Olly Allen suffered a rib injury. The Bees' double header meant for a long night at Brandon. The tapes went up for the meeting with Wolves slightly earlier than usual (1930 BST), but the second fixture of the night did not get underway until almost 10 o'clock. Hans Andersen claimed: "I had my worst meeting since I joined Coventry."
