Former Coventry Bees captain Scott Nicholls scored a 15-point maximum in winning Steve Johnston's testimonial event at Brandon on Sunday.

The Eastbourne Eagles rider reeled off five straight wins to claim first place with maximum points.

The result hinged on the last race with Nicholls, Jason Crump and Leigh Adams all unbeaten ahead of the final heat.

Johnston bowed out with a puncture in his final ride after recording six points in his first four races.

Meanwhile, the Bees are set to make Ben Barker a permanent asset from Reading.
