Rain thwarts Lambert's Euro debut

Lambert races for Boston and Kings Lynn in the UK

Boston Barracudas rider Simon Lambert's first international meeting ended in frustration after it was postponed because of rain.

Lambert, 19, from Gosberton Risegate, was set to race at the tournament at Ostrow, Poland in front of 20,000 fans.

But heavy rain on Sunday led officials to declare the track unfit to race on.

"It was quite an experience to see all those people," he admitted. "The noise of the air horns was unbelievable. I was very disappointed not to ride."

Lambert, who races for the Boston Barracudas in the Conference League and for Kings Lynn in the Premier League, was amazed by the size of the crowd at the Miroslaw Borowicz memorial tournament.

He said: "The Polish people are very passionate about speedway and even the smallest of clubs in Poland attract thousands of fans.

"I am booked to ride there again in June and the rained-off meeting has been rescheduled for September, so I get to do it all over again."
