Chris Schramm notched up his best Elite League score against Eastbourne |
The Ipswich Witches beat Eastbourne at Foxhall Stadium by 52 points to 41 to secure their third win in a row. Reserve Chris Schramm recorded his best-ever Elite League score of eight points plus two bonus. Team manager Pete Simmons told BBC Radio Suffolk: "They all did the business, I was particularly pleased with Chris." The Witches now face a tough run of three away matches in five days. On a night of thrills and spills Piotr Swiderski crashed in two consecutive heats, but the Pole still managed to amass 10 points. His fellow Polish riders were also on form with Robert Miskowiak scoring 11 and Jarek Hampel 10. For the Eagles, former Ipswich rider Scott Nicholls led the scoring with 15 plus a bonus point although he was upset when a flashing camera caused him to pull up while leading in heat 10, which sparked a run of three consecutive heat wins for the Witches. Pete Simmons added: "Rider replacement didn't work as well as we hoped but everyone did well in their programmed heats." The Witches go to Eastbourne on Saturday, Wolverhampton on Monday and Poole next Wednesday before taking on Belle Vue at home next Thursday. Simmons said: "There are nine points on offer on our travels. I fancy our chances at Eastbourne, even without Tobi Kroner who is on international duty. "Freddie Lindgren will guest and we are using rider replacement at number one again." "Wolverhampton, where Edward Kennett will be our guest, and Poole may be more difficult but they are all 'do-able'."
