Redcar have snapped up New Zealand rider Jake Mudgway on the recommendation of six-times world speedway champion Ivan Mauger. Kiwi Under-21 international Mudgway is expected to ride in the Cubs' Conference League team, having been earmarked for first team duty in 2009.
Club principal Glyn Taylor said: "It is a fantastic opportunity.
"I am grateful to Ivan for his input. New Zealand has an outstanding record in the history of our sport."
Mauger is working with Redcar to set up a training school at the South Tees Motorpark on Saturday 8 March.
