Simon Walker has been rewarded for last season's stand-in leadership qualities by being handed the Somerset Rebels' captaincy for 2008. Walker stood in to good effect at the end of last year when previous skipper Magnus Zetterstrom missed several Rebels matches.
Promoter Mike Golding said: "I have every confidence in him.
"Simon showed when he stepped into the breach that he is more than capable of fulfilling the role."
