Redding's next Moto2 date will be in Portugal at Estoril on 29 April |
Scott Redding failed to break his duck in the Moto2 Championship with a lowly finish in the wet at the Spanish GP. The Gloucestershire rider qualified 13th but never got to grips with his bike in Jerez and ended the race 23rd. "I just couldn't get the bike to work and I had no feeling from the front or the rear in the wet conditions," he told the Marc VDS Racing website. "We've got to find a solution quickly. The start of the season has been well below our pre-season expectations." The next stop on the calendar is the Portuguese Grand Prix at the end of April. Team manager Michael Bartholemy added: "We've had a lot of time to solve our problems with winter testing and now two races, so I want to see Scott and his crew come up with answers and solutions before we go to Estoril. "This is the second race in a row now that we are leaving without any points and that is a situation that has to drastically change quickly. "Scott hasn't been able to get comfortable on the bike again so we have to understand what we can do to help him." Redding's team-mate Mika Kallio came 17th at Jerez, while his British rivals Bradley Smith and Kevin Coghlan finished fourth and eighth in a race won by Italian Andrea Iannone. Iannone leads the championship on 45 points, with German Stefan Bradl and Swiss rider Thomas Luth tied in second on 36 points.
