American Colin Edwards has signed a one-year contract extension with his Tech 3 Yamaha MotoGP team.
The 36-year-old two-time World Superbike champion has raced for the French-based squad since 2008 and is currently 11th in the standings.
Next season he will partner Briton Cal Crutchlow, who joined the Tech 3 Yahama team earlier this month after switching from the World Superbike Championship.
"I love the team and feel like part of a big family," said Edwards.
"I am also looking forward to working with and helping out Cal Crutchlow next season.
"I'd like to think I helped James Toseland and Ben Spies adapt when they arrived in MotoGP, and I will be doing my utmost to do the same for Cal if he needs any advice."
Edwards moved to MotoGP with Aprilia in 2003 before moving to Honda and then Yamaha.
He partnered Valentino Rossi at the factory Yamaha squad from 2005 to 2007 but has yet to win a grand prix despite recording five second-place finishes, the most recent of which was at last season's British Grand Prix.
