Knight happy with Spanish warm-up

Knight is the reigning GNCC champion.

Manx Enduro star David Knight is making final preparations for his much anticipated return to the World Enduro Championships with BMW.

Knight concluded his preparations by competing at the opening round of the Spanish Enduro Championships.

The 30-year-old made the perfect start and topped his class on day one, finishing third overall on the day.

He was forced out of day two's trials after he swerved to avoid a fallen rider and broke a gear lever shaft.

"I'm really pleased with the way things went, although I'm obviously disappointed not to have finished the second day," said Knight.

"The event was really a final test under race conditions as I tried a few new parts on the bike, which worked well."

Knight dominated the WEC Championship in 2005 and 2006 before moving to the United States and winning back-to-back GNCC titles.

He continued: "I've got a few things to try on the bike this week then I'll be busy getting myself ready for this weekend's WEC race in Portugal.

"I'm really looking forward to the race now, especially now I know my speed is where it needs to be."

The first round in Portugal will be held over the weekend of Saturday, 21 March and Sunday, 22 March .
