Superbikes may face nationals axe

Ryan Farquhar
Ryan Farquhar dominated the 2008 Irish national road races

Superbikes may be banned from Irish national road races from the start of the 2010 season.

In the interests of safety and the rising costs of running machinery, the Superbikes may be replaced by Superstocks which are less expensive.

Top road racer Ryan Farquhar is among those who already regularly ride a Superstock bike in national events.

Licence holders were recently canvassed for their opinion on this and other matters affecting the sport's future.
