Michael Rutter was a winner at last year's North West 200

The 2009 North West 200 is set to be staged on Saturday 16 May.

"This is the likely date but it is a provisional one at the moment," said clerk-of-the-course Mervyn Whyte.

"I still have some more talking to do with British Superbike organisers but we should have things finalised in the next three or four weeks," he added.

"It has still to be rubberstamped but it would be a good date for us as it should not be surrounded by any British Superbike rounds."
