Toseland is currently eighth in the standings |
James Toseland says he is determined to put his nightmare British MotoGP behind him in this weekend's race at Assen. The 27-year-old Briton blighted his solid debut MotoGP season with a poor showing in qualifying at Donington then crashed on last Sunday's first lap. The Tech3 Yamaha rider said: "I'm happy to be back on the bike so soon after Donington so that we can move forward. "I'm happy with the way the practice sessions have gone. I'm feeling back on form and ready for the race." Toseland badly bruised his left hand and neck after crashing at Donington but he is fit enough to compete and hoping for a better showing on Sunday. "We still have a lot of work ahead of us to find the best set-up for the bike, but we've made good progress," he said. "I've been concentrating on finding the best lines around the track rather than focusing on top speed. | 606: DEBATE |
"I have some experience at Assen but to be honest we're really starting with a clean slate in the same way that we have at every circuit this year." At the front, reigning champion Casey Stoner was again in dominant mood as he led the field in practice by over 0.7 seconds on his Ducati. The Aussie trails Fiat Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi by 45 points in the standings but was back on form as he won at Donington. Rossi was second in practice ahead of Toseland's team-mate Colin Edwards with qualifying taking place on Friday. Suzuki's Loris Capirossi has been ruled out of the Dutch MotoGP after crashing and suffering a deep gash to his right forearm. The Italian missed the previous British round with a broken hand. The team said he would not be replaced for the race at Assen.
