John Laverty and his Buildbase Ducati team have been told they will not be able to race their Ducati 1098R in this year's British Superstock championship. The team have been informed that the machine does not meet the legal technicality rule as laid down by the Motor Cycle Racing Control Board. Those regulations state that 300 models of the type to be raced must be sold and registered in the United Kingdom. Laverty now intends to ride the bike in the BSB Privateeers Cup series. His team-mate Michael Rutter will run in the full British Superbike championship. The first round of the Superstock series takes place next weekend at Brands Hatch, and, as it stands, the Buildbase Ducati Team, along with Pro Twins and Moto Rapido Racing, will be excluded from the series. JHP Racing, who built Laverty's machine, were only made aware of the regulation this week by a third party. However, the same machine has been sanctioned for the next five years by the FIM for Superstock racing worldwide.
