Sheffield's James Toseland is confident that he can claim a podium position in the next round of the Moto GP in Spain.

Having finished sixth in the first event of the season in Qatar he feels he can quickly progress to one of the top three positions.

Toseland told BBC Radio Sheffield: "The straights are a bit shorter and so that means I should be able to get closer to the Ducati and maybe get a podium.

"I've never raced there but I finished fifth in practice, so I'm confident."

Toseland has made an instant impact with the Tech 3 Yamaha team and they are trying to rush a new engine to him in time for the next race.

But Toseland does not think that will happen: "After the race I was pushing the Japanese to try and get the new one ready for Spain, but I don't think that is going to happen.

"Because I am so close to the podium it would make a big difference to have a bit more power beneath me.

It was amazing how much he looked like one of the Blues Brothers

"Yahama are pleasantly surprised with how things have gone so far and that will help me develop my relationship with them and with Michelin."

Since the race in Qatar Toseland has been back at his home in the Isle of Man, but found time to join Ray Stubbs for a special rendition of the Blue Brothers' 'Everybody Needs Somebody to Love' for Sport Relief.

"He was so nervous it was unbelievable and we were helping him out with the lyrics, and in the end we pulled it off and Ray was made up," said Toseland.

"It was amazing how much he looked like one of the Blues Brothers. I think he really enjoyed it."
