Plater is set to return to the Isle of Man TT |
Top English rider Steve Plater has confirmed that he will compete in the 2008 Kennedy North West 200. Plater, who claimed one of this year's Superbike races at the North West after doing the superbike double in 2006, will ride for the AIM Yamaha team.
"I've been coming to the North West for many years and the event just gets better and better," said Plater.
He will also compete in the 2008 British Superbike Series as well as the World Endurance Championship.
Plater finished off his 2007 in impressive fashion by winning the Macau Grand Prix, which repeated his 2006 victory in the Asian event.
While he was also victorious at this year's North West, Plater didn't go away from the Triangle event entirely happy.
"It was an okay year. Superbike wise, (John) McGuinness won one of the Superbike races when it was stopped short and early for safety reasons.
"That was fair enough but I really wanted to win both Superbike races.
"I was also second in one of the Supersport races and had a chance in the other one but then ran wide on the final lap at Juniper."
Plater made his first appearance at the Isle of Man TT this year and the Englishman will be making another visit to the island in 2008.
