 Michael Laverty hopes to ride in Superbikes next season |
Toomebridge's Michael Laverty has been crowned British Supersport champion after claiming his fifth win of the season at Donington Park on Sunday. The Relentless TAS Suzuki rider beat his team-mate Ian Lowry into second and enjoys an unassailable lead with one round still to go at Brands Hatch Indy.
Jonathan Rea trails Ryuichi Kiyonari by 40 points in the Superbike series after finishing fifth and seventh on Sunday.
Kiyonari was third in race two after failing to finish the first event.
Leon Haslam took a double by winning both races with Tom Sykes second on both occasions.
In the Superstocks, John Laverty was fourth, Marshall Neill seventh and Alistair Seeley ninth.
BJ Toal was second in the first Virgin Media Cup event but failed to finish the next but still heads the series with two races to go.
Glengormley's Nikki Coates was ninth in the 125s.
