Bayliss will need two medical checks before he can race |
World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss plans to race in Valencia on 13 April - less than two weeks after having part of his finger amputated. The Australian trapped his finger under his handlebars in a crash during Sunday's European Grand Prix at Donington and had immediate surgery.
Bayliss is recuperating in Monte Carlo and faces medical checks before being given the all-clear to race again.
"I feel I can get on a motorbike but I won't know until I do." said Bayliss.

"Things are coming along OK and I've still got plenty of days to recover.
"I'm confident I'm going to be fine for Valencia and hopefully in just a week and a half you'll see the usual Troy."
Bayliss was leading the race at Donington when he crashed at the difficult Coppice corner on lap six.
"The crash happened so quickly that I don't remember my hand going under the handlebar or anything," Bayliss said.
The rider was taken to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary where the top two bones in the finger were removed.
Bayliss' crash dropped him to sixth in the championships standings with round four taking place in Valencia.
