 McWilliams' last full season in MotoGP was 2004 |
Jeremy McWilliams has undergone successful surgery on the broken left femur he suffered in a crash at a MotoGP test session in Spain last week. The 42-year-old had a rod inserted in his leg at a private clinic in Jerez and is expected to remain in Spain until this weekend, before flying home.
McWilliams was testing with the Ilmor team who are expected to announce their rider line-up for 2007 later this week.
The Northern Ireland rider hopes to begin light training in early January.
McWilliams also suffered a fractured collarbone and injuries to his left hand in the crash.
