Plater denies Rutter record win |  Michael Rutter had to settle for second place at Macau |
Steve Plater got the better of Michael Rutter in a thrilling battle to win the Macau Grand Prix and deny the Stobart Honda rider a record seventh success. It was a first Macau win for the AIM Yamaha rider with a third Englishman Ian Hutchinson completing the podium. Stuart Easton was fourth, Guy Martin fifth and John McGuinness sixth. Dubliner Martin Finnegan was back in 15th but Crumlin rider Stephen Thompson and Dromore based Welshman Ian Lougher both failed to finish.
