Ellison joined Tech 3 at the beginning of the season |
British rider James Ellison has been dropped by the Yamaha Tech 3 team for the 2007 MotoGP season. Tech 3 signed Japanese rider Makoto Tamada last week and on Tuesday the team announced that Sylvain Guintoli would complete their 2007 line-up.
French 250cc rider Guintoli was previously a test rider for Tech 3.
Ellison had a disappointing 2006, coming 13th in the season-ending Spanish Grand Prix to finish 18th in the overall standings.
He admitted in his regular BBC Sport column that his uncertain future with the team had affected his performance.
"I haven't a clue where I'm going to be next season, that's part of the problem," he said before the Malaysian Grand Prix in September.
"If you know where you're going, you've got something to work towards, but it's not so easy to concentrate when your future hangs in the balance.
"We're trying our best to stay where we are, because that's what we want, but, just in case, my managers are looking at other options.
"This is the first year I've had on a GP bike, I just need another shot and I hope I get it."
