Ryan Farquhar could miss the Ulster Grand Prix in August |
Ryan Farquhar's season could be over after being told by doctors that he may not be able to resume racing for another eight weeks. The Dungannon rider was targeting a return at the Bush 100 on 24 June after suffering arm and neck injuries in a crash at the Cookstown 100 in April.
Farquhar is now a doubt for the UGP at Dundrod on 20 August.
"In effect the season is virtually over and the grand prix is now even looking doubtful," he told the News Letter.
He added: "Yes, I'm improving, the arm is getting better all the time.
"But the doctors have told me to keep wearing the neck cast and in their opinion it could well be another eight weeks before I could consider racing."
Farquhar is upset at missing the first Bush races near his home town - the 30-year-old had the original idea for the meeting.
"I had often thought about a race taking in some of the local roads and when the Dungannon club was formed I gave them a hand to do some homework on the Bush circuit which is less than a mile from my home," he said.
"To skip the North-West 200 as well as the Isle of Man TT was agonising.
"And now to miss the first Bush meeting which I helped to get off the ground is nothing short of heartbreaking."
