Lisburn's Darran Lindsay celebrated his first North-West win |
Three Irish riders celebrated their first North West 200 victories on Saturday. Lisburn's Darran Lindsay won the 125cc while Davy Morgan of Saintfield took the honours in the 250cc race.
Ryan Farquhar of Dungannon made it a NI treble with victory in the second Supersport race after Donegal's Raymond Porter won the first Supersport race.
Ian Lougher edged out Bruce Anstey in the Superstock and Dungannon's John Burrows claimed a 400cc success.
Lougher came from 16 seconds back to reel in Anstey, whose decision to go with wet tyres proved costly in the end as the course dried.
"I had more top speed than Bruce and it was good fun over the last lap," said Lougher.
Lindsay has long sought to take the 125 crown and finally achieved his goal, coming in ahead of Michael Wilcox and Chris Palmer.
"We have been waiting for this for ages. It is the one we always wanted," said Lindsay.
Farquhar also ended a long wait for a North West success and he cruised to victory with Enniskillen's Richard Britton second and Porter in third.
"I had a disaster in the opening races but I'm on a high now. I'm over the moon," said a delighted Farquhar.
