John Laverty produced a fine qualifying display to claim eighth place on the grid for Monday's fourth round of the British Superbikes at Oulton Park. The Vitrans Honda rider was seven places better off than brother Michael with Jonathan Rea 16th and Marty Nutt in 21st.
Eugene Laverty was seventh fastest in Supersport qualifying and Ian Lowry second fastest for the R6 Cup event.
Adrian Coates claimed second spot in the British Superstock category.
Ryan Rainey was fifth, Marshall Neill ninth and Stephen Thompson 14th in the same class.
Series leader Michael Rutter will start the Superbike races from pole position.
