Jeremy McWilliams will miss the Oulton Park round |
Jeremy McWilliams will miss Monday's fourth round of the British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park because of a shoulder and back injury. The 41-year-old suffered the injury in a crash at Thruxton in round two and has struggled to overcome it.
He expects to undergo an MRI scan this week to assess the degree of the damage but aims to be back for the fifth round at Mondello Park on 15 May.
McWilliams retired in both races at Mallory Park last weekend.
"Jeremy's injured so the sensible thing to do is for him to rest this weekend and recuperate," said Stobart Honda team boss Paul Bird.
"Hopefully he can bounce back to the kind of form we know he is capable of when he visits his home circuit at Mondello Park."
McWilliams commented: "The injury was preventing me from being in total control of the bike and that's not an ideal situation for me or the other riders.
"I have a scan on Friday to determine the extent of the injury which is do with the soft tissue and nerves around the right shoulder."
