 Luthi is Switzerland's first 125cc champion since 1966 |
Switzerland's Thomas Luthi won the 125cc world championship after finishing ninth in the final race of the season in Valencia. Mika Kallio, the only person who could have denied Luthi the title, won the race with a daring last-lap overtake, but Luthi's ninth place proved enough.
Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi finished in second place and Italy's Mattia Pasini crossed the line third.
Kallio's KTM team took some consolation by winning the manufacturers' title.
