Adrian Archibald won two races at the 2003 TT races |
Adrian Archibald, Richard Britton and Ryan Farquhar will head the Northern Ireland challenge at this year's Isle of Man TT Races. Ballymoney man Archibald hopes to add to the two victories he secured in the Formula One and Senior races in 2003.
The 34-year-old will again compete in the TAS Suzuki colours in both Superbike races, the Junior TT, the Production 1000 and Production 600.
Britton and Farquhar will be out to secure their first TT wins.
Britton will ride Suzukis in the showpiece races but his best chance of success may come in the 400cc class.
Farquhar again campaigns under the McAdoo Racing banner and hopes to be fully recovered from a scaphoid fracture which has inhibited his early season efforts.
Superbike machinery
Martin Finnegan will fly the flag for the Republic of Ireland and has a realistic chance of a podium finish in only his second year at the TT.
Archibald will be joined in the TAS team by New Zealander Bruce Anstey, who will be riding competitive Superbike machinery on 'the Island' for the first time.
Anstey showed his credentials with a fine win last year in the Junior 600 class on a Triumph and two wins at the recent North West 200 races.
His compatriot Shaun Harris won both Production races last year and will be among the top contenders on Kawasakis backed by Wilson and Collins.
The English contingent will be headed by Morecambe's John McGuinness who rides Yamahas for the Inside Line racing team this year.
Podium finishes
The 30-year-old already has two TT wins under his belt, including the 400cc race last time out, and will take delivery of a new Yamaha R1 for the Formula One and Senior races.
His fellow Yamaha rider Jason Griffiths is still chasing his first TT win and the Manx based rider will hope to break his duck this year after several podium finishes.
Ian Lougher rides Hondas for the second year in succession and should be a major player in all the six races he takes part in.
He will face stiff competition in the 125cc race from veteran Robert Dunlop and last year's winner, former British 125cc champion Chris Palmer.
Manxman Dave Molyneux will start favourite for the Sidecar races but much interest will focus on the performance of former world champion Klaus Klaffenbock.
With riders and machinery equally matched, expect to witness some of the closest TT racing in many years.
