Walker makes Petronas departure
Chris Walker in action for the Foggy Petronas team
Walker had a third place in Valencia
Chris Walker is to race for the PSG-1 Kawasaki team in next season's World Superbikes Championship after deciding to leave Foggy Petronas Racing.

The 32-year-old from Nottingham said: "It has been a really hard decision as I have really enjoyed my time with Petronas, and Foggy has been a star.

"But the timing is right for me to get back on a four-cylinder bike."

Walker, who secured FPR's first podium placing, finished 11th in the 2004 World Superbike standings.

FPR team owner Carl Fogarty said: "We were confident that Chris would have been able to fulfil his potential and become a consistent front-runner next season on the FP1.

"But he has enjoyed most of his success in the past on a four-cylinder bike and probably feels that he is more at home on a Kawasaki."

Fogarty added: "We put together an attractive package, which included the addition of Chris's mechanic to our team.

"However, circumstances beyond the control of all those involved meant that Chris wasn't able to accept that package."

Walker's exit from FPR follows the departure of Australian former champion Troy Corser earlier this month.
