Rossi: First rider to win back-to-back races with different teams
Valentino Rossi has declared that winning his first race with Yamaha is one of his greatest achievements.

Reigning world champion Rossi, who was expected to struggle with Yamaha, finished ahead of Max Biaggi in the South African MotoGP on Sunday.

"It has been one of the best weekends of my career. I rode very well and the race was very good." said the Italian.

"It was a great show. I made the perfect start and I tried to make some good overtaking moves."

Beaten rider Biaggi said he had done all he could to stop Rossi, who has become the first rider in history to win back-to-back races with different teams.

"I tried my best but it was not enough because Rossi was very, very fast - faster than me. I could not reply."

Telefonica Movistar Honda's Sete Gibernau, who came third, admitted he had no match for the top two as he battled a minor chassis problem.

"They had a very good race, congratulations to both Valentino and Max," said Gibernau.

"I knew we were not on the best pace but I tried in the beginning. I think the team did the best we could and I have to be happy."
