Shane Byrne takes the giant and hugely ambitious step from British Superbikes to MotoGP this year. The 27-year-old may have won the British title in 2003, but MotoGP is a completely different level. Riding the Aprilia, which is widely regarded to be one of the least user-friendly bikes on the grid, he will have quite a task on his hands. Byrne's willingness to move to MotoGP proves he does not lack confidence, but he is in for a tough year.
