Ryan Farquhar was fastest in the rain-affected 600 practice

The rain proved to be the winner in Tuesday's first practice for the North West 200 with the riders clocking slower than usual times on the circuit.

If Thursday's conditions are better, then Tuesday's times won't mean anything for qualifying purposes.

Richard Britton (104.567mph) was quickest in the Superbikes from Ryan Farquhar and John McGuinness.

Michael Rutter failed to register a qualifying mark in his Ducati after completing only one lap but can be expected to do much better on Thursday evening.

Farquhar (101.425) was fastest in the 600 category from Jim Moodie (100.607) and David Jefferies (98.787).

Farquhar will switch from the Yamaha R1 to the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 for Thursday's second superbike practice.

Barry Maguire (101.266) topped the Production times with Ian Lougher (94.968) best in the 125 event.

Robert Dunlop was able to complete only one lap in the 125 qualifying because of an engine problem.

Dunlop's son William produced a fine debut performance by being eighth fastest in the 125 stats.
