Italy's Valentino Rossi is in superb form
Honda's Valentino Rossi has won the Spanish motorcycling Grand Prix MotoGP for the second year in a row.

The world championship leader claimed victory in the third of the 16-race series on the Jeres de la Frontera circuit

Daijiro Kato of Japan was second with fellow countryman Tohru Ukawa in third.

Rossi had an early scare when he dropped to eighth place after touching bikes with American former world champion Kenny Roberts.

But he recovered and used the superior power of his four-stroke Honda to work his way up the field.
