Red Bull have given up on Vitantonio Liuzzi being the potential future major player they had thought he was.

The Italian has failed to convince in two and a half seasons and now the company have decided that he has had long enough to prove himself.

Liuzzi entered his first full season with Toro Rosso in 2006 with team boss Gerhard Berger insisting he was a future star.

But now he will be replaced by Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais for 2008.
