Patrick Friesacher, like team-mate Christijan Albers, did a good job in his debut Formula One part-season.

His commitment was not in doubt - he is brave, pushes hard and has impressive car control.

But his time at Minardi came to an end after the British Grand Prix when his sponsorship funds dried up and he was replaced by Dutchman Robert Doornbos.

The Austrian won a couple of races in Formula 3000, where he was perceived as fast but a little incident-prone.
