Ralf Schumacher headed into 2007 knowing his career was on the line and at no point did he look like saving it.

The German was, as usual, outpaced by team-mate Jarno Trulli in qualifying.

And while they were closely matched in race conditions, Schumacher did not justify F1's second biggest salary after Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen.

He chose to leave the team, who had shown not much sign of wanting him to stay, and it remains to be seen if he will secure another drive in 2008.
