Red Bull Racing broke Formula 1's curfew limit for the first time on Friday night ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix as team members worked extra hours to make set-up changes to its car.

Lewis Hamilton was fastest over a single lap by over 0.2s from Fernando Alonso's Ferrari, and on the long runs on the super-soft tyres the McLaren looked at least as good as the Ferrari - and better than the Red Bull. But the margin by which both McLaren and Ferrari were quicker than the Red Bulls was lighting up understandable paranoia buttons. Great strides though Ferrari and McLaren have made of late, there is a refusal to believe that the RB7 is genuinely 0.5s per lap off their pace. Veteran commentator Murray Walker is concerned that the new UK rights deal will not be good for Formula 1. "My overriding reaction is one of great sympathy for the people who can't afford Sky or don't have Sky for whatever reason because they are going to be denied 50% of the races," he said. "I have concerns that if the television audience goes down, Formula 1 itself is going to suffer."
