Jenson Button lies fifth in the drivers' championship

Jenson Button is confident of fighting for victory at the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring despite retiring from the British Grand Prix last week. Button said: "This is a race I'd really like to win. To be able to say you've won at the Nürburgring is a major achievement because it's such a historic and challenging location."

Nascar team Michael Waltrip Racing is suing Williams and Mike Coughlan, claiming breach of contract and interference, after Coughlan signed as the Formula 1 team's chief engineer, according to court documents filed in North Carolina.

Vitaly Petrov has admitted that his Lotus Renault has been "off the pace", but the Russian driver hopes that new upgrades will pay off at the German Grand Prix.

Heikki Kovalainen believes his Lotus team were "too optimistic" in aiming for regular points this season. Lotus's best finish in 2011 has been 13th, and the Finn said: "With the tools we have at the moment, we can't expect to be fighting with the middle of the pack or with teams like Renault or Mercedes."

Adrian Sutil aims to improve his qualifying performances in the second half of the season after being outqualified by Force India team-mate Paul di Resta at seven of the first nine races. "Qualifying has to be a little bit better, I've lost out to him a couple of times and have maybe been a bit unlucky or whatever," said the German. "I can do better, I was not in good shape sometimes and had problems with tyres and other things with the car."
