Hamilton would want Rosberg as his driver

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton said that if Formula 1 chose a city for a new street circuit then he would want it to be Las Vegas because it would "fun" and a "great weekend for everyone". The former world champion also said that if he was a team boss he would pick Mercedes' Nico Rosberg to join his set-up. "You have to consider the whole package that comes with a driver. Harmony in the team, consistency and all that," said Hamilton.

Red Bull motor racing consultant Helmut Marko says the threat of F1 teams forming a breakaway series is not that serious. "A suitable compromise can hopefully be found," he said. "Ferrari are the best-known team and have been in F1 the longest - but being Italian, they tend to express things more emotionally than others. In my opinion, the situation is nowhere near as bad as it looks."

The Australian Grand Prix will remain at Albert Park as long as the event is a part of the calendar, according to local officials in Melbourne. They ruled out a switch to nearby Avalon because of the £200m needed to stage the race there.

Dietrich Mateschitz, co-founder of drinks company Red Bull, believes that Formula 1 could return to Austria's A1 Ring, which has been renovated and renamed as the Red Bull Ring. F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone, who attended the official opening of the circuit on Saturday, said at the Turkish Grand Prix that a return to Austria was a "possibility".

Teams are set to reject an offer from FIA president Jean Todt to bring back limited in-season testing from next year. Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner said: "One of the biggest cost savings we have seen is the reduction in testing, so I think the balance we have with the pre-season and the young driver test at the end of the year is right - and fiscally beneficial not just to the big teams but to the small teams as well."

GP3 Series driver Adrian Quaife-Hobbs drove an F1 car for the first time on Sunday when he took part in a test for the Virgin Racing team in Spain.
