Finnish driver Heikki Kovalainen is out of hospital after crashing his car at the Race of Champions in Dusseldorf. "Back home again, more checks tomorrow to be done, heads a bit sore was unconscious for 30 [seconds]," he tells Twitter. Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher were also among the 16 competitors. Di Resta won for Mercedes after coming in second behind England's Gary Paffett in the season-ending race in Shanghai. Reuters news agency Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso insists he is happy with his first season at Ferrari even though he was beaten to the title by Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel. "All that was lacking was the cherry on the cake, but hey, we knew that could happen," he said.
