Rookie Nico Hulkenberg's race seat at Williams is in doubt for next season, according to Italy's Autosprint magazine, with Pastor Maldonado a potential new team-mate for Rubens Barrichello. motorsport.com (original material not available online) Mercedes have given seven-time champion Michael Schumacher one more year to prove he is competitive enough for Formula 1. The 41-year-old German agreed a three-year deal with Mercedes GP after coming out of retirement, but he will not get to race in 2012 unless he can up his performance in 2011. Bild (in German) Bruno Senna and Sakon Yamamoto will be Hispania's race-day drivers for the remainder of the season. The team has so far used four drivers and there had been speculation that more changes were on the way. SpeedWeek (in German) Nick Heidfeld will consider a switch to Force India, Lotus, Virgin or Hispania following Sauber's decision to sign Mexican rookie Sergio Perez as Kamui Kobayashi's partner. Heidfeld had been one of three drivers alongside Timo Glock and Adrian Sutil trying to secure the second race seat at the Swiss-based team for 2011. Blick (in German) Pedro de la Rosa has kicked off his work as Pirelli's test driver, carrying out a two-day stint in Valencia. The Italian manufacturer was trying out wet and intermediate rubber on an artificially watered circuit for the first time. Autosport Robert Kubica says he's disappointed that Raikkonen is not going to be his team-mate in 2011: "I thought there was a chance of him coming to Renault." BBC F1 commentator Jonathan Legard on Twitter Renault raised a toast to a new Russian vodka sponsor on Thursday in a four-race deal that could enhance the chances of Russian rookie Vitaly Petrov staying with the team.
