Under baking hot skies at the Hungaroring, the drivers prepare for the Hungarian Grand Prix near Budapest - with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, third on the grid, and Lotus's Jarno Trulli, P20, in good spirits
And it's a warm welcome, too, for Lucas di Grassi (Virgin), Bruno Senna (Hispania) and Felipe Massa (Ferrari) from the pit girls in Budapest ahead of a race that promised little but delivered plenty of incident and excitement
The start of the race has plenty of incident to get the adrenalin flowing along, with Fernando Alonso getting past Mark Webber and up into second, and Lewis Hamilton overtaken by Vitaly Petrov all before the first corner
It's not such a great start for Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguesuari, however, with the Spaniard the first retiree of the race because of engine failure
With Sebastian Vettel building a sizeable lead out front, the German's team-mate Mark Webber finds himself frustrated behind Ferrari's Fernando Alonso as the Spaniard defends his second place well
But the race is completely turned on its head by a safety car period, with Mark Webber leapfrogging Sebastian Vettel - who is later penalised with a drive-through for not staying within 10 car lengths of the pace car
The safety car period also causes chaos in the pits - and after a collision between Robert Kubica and Adrian Sutil, the crews are lucky to escape unharmed when a wheel flies loose off Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg's car
A brave damage-limitation drive from Lewis Hamilton is brought to an end by a gearbox failure, meanwhile, the Briton forced to retire on lap 24 while running in fourth place
And on a frustrating day for McLaren, Jenson Button - starting 11th on the grid - endures a terrible opening half of the race, slipping to 16th, before forcing his way through the pack to eventually finish eighth
Out in front, however, Mark Webber puts in a staggering middle section of the race to pull far enough clear of second-placed Fernando Alonso to go in for his mandatory pit-stop and emerge in front of the Spaniard
And with Mark Webber pulling away, it is left to Fernando Alonso to defend his position again, this time from Sebastian Vettel, who despite having the faster car has no joy in passing the Ferrari and has to settle for third
There is time for yet more incident, this time involving Michael Schumacher who, in defending his 10th place late in the race, nearly forces former team-mate Rubens Barrichello into the pit wall
However, there are no such problems for race leader Mark Webber, the Australian storming over the line well clear of the field to secure his fourth Grand Prix victory of the season
It is a great result, too, for Renault's Vitaly Petrov who follows up his performance on Saturday, when he outqualified team-mate Robert Kubica, with his best F1 finish - fifth place
But there is no happier man in Budapest than Mark Webber - in stark contrast to Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel - with the Australian taking over as this season's new championship leader with his 25-point victory haul
