Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi echoed the comments of many drivers who struggled with a slippery Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve at Friday's first practice for the Canadian Grand Prix. The Japanese driver said: "The lack of grip was a major problem."

McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button plan to try and watch England's opening World Cup game against the United States after Saturday's qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix. Button said: "I'm hoping to watch it. We'll be in debrief after qualifying which is a pain but I'll be following it."
